Cars seem to just dominate the streets nowadays. When before it was only a commodity for the elite and the very rich, it is used by everyone at present, regardless of social status and financial capability. It is a very important thing that almost everyone wants, to be able to get to places, run errands, and just travel without all the hassles that is connected to the daily commute.

The advent of the automobile has changed travel for the better. It has allowed the public to run errands and get to places faster and easier. Nonetheless, it also came with a lot of problems, as with most man made products. There are so many issues that every car owner share with millions of others. There is the issue on leaks, defective parts, brake problems, overheating, vehicle air conditioning problems and auto stereo troubles, and oxygen sensor recycling.

The so called oxygen sensor is one of the very essential parts that every car should have. It analyzes the gas or liquid that is running in an engine, and then it measures the relative amount of oxygen used. This electronic device also goes by the name lambda sensor.

It is part of the emissions control system. It feeds data to the computer that runs engine management. The goal of the said mechanism is to run as efficiently as possible while producing the lowest possible emissions.

This sensor is super quintessential in primal engine functions. It detects abnormalities in the combustion, enable the vehicle to run in perfect gas to air ratio at all times. If the perfect ratio is not maintained, it can lead to two different kinds of mixtures that can seriously maim the optimal function of the car and cause some serious damage to the environment. Without it, rich mixtures that cause pollution, and lean mixtures that damage the engine, will invariably cause problems.

There are many kinds of sensors that are installed in different vehicles. The heated oxygen sensor heats up the whole thing first to reduce the time allotted for the car to warm up. This type comes with an internal heating element, so that the engine system goes into closed loop fuel control in just a matter of a few seconds.

Titania oxygen sensors are used by only a few car models. The reason is is called so is because it has the element titania rather than the widely used zirconia. It has an operating principle that is entirely different from the other one. It works like a coolant sensor instead, changing resistance when the air to fuel ratio goes from rich to lean.

Oxygen sensors also age over time. They also experience the usual signs of common wear and tear. Old sensors can be replaced ahead to ensure efficiency, but recycling them does the same purpose, even more cost effective, too.

The air feeler, which is fitted into the exhaust, should be cleaned as often as necessary. You can do it yourself, or you can have a mechanic do it for you. Either way, cleaning your sensor improves the capacity of your car without having to spend much.
