The Joy Of Joining An Antique Auto Club

By David Wright

When it comes to cars, individuals often have vastly different taste. When it comes to collectors, most belong to an antique auto club. One such organization is related to antique cars. In this case, the organization host members which pay an annual fee then show cars at different events around the world.

Since the beginning, the auto club has primarily focused attention on collectors and antique vehicles. For, most members feel these cars provide a feel, sound and sight which can be found nowhere else. Whether feeling the thrill and thumping of a big block engine, clatter of cylinder brass or rumble of an antique motorcycle, driving one of these vintage vehicles is generally the only way to do so.

Collectors and enthusiasts often provide similar answers when asked how one became interested in classic and vintage automobiles. In most cases, people suggest there is just something which captures attention and attraction that is rather hard to define. In most cases, people whom are attracted to, or collect classic or vintage cars tend to focus on a specific era of the past.

The organization was first founded in 1935 with one goal, the enjoyment and preservation of history related to all types of automobiles. The club brings enthusiasts together for regional and national events through various activities, antique automobiles and building new friendships. In addition, the organization also provides an award winning full color magazine of over 100 pages.

In the 1940s, the organization went through a difficult hardship with regards to the war. For, in the months before and after, the hobby required the same attention as that of the war. In fact, to paraphrase the president of the organization, the mutual enthusiasm shared by members of the club during the Spring of 1942 included a number of disturbances and was fraught with uncertainties.

The organization has become better and stronger since the war and now has millions of members. As such, there is no doubt the organization will survive in the future. For, the car enthusiasts of America depend on the activities, contests and other events sponsored by the organization at which to drive and show these antique and classic automobiles on an annual basis.

The club website features a number of sections and pictures of different era antique vehicles which often has something for everyone. In fact, members do not have to own a classic or vintage car or know how to work on one to become involved. For, there are other ways to become involved such as judging, doing research or touring one of the National meet-ups or tours.

While most individuals think that these type of clubs are extremely expensive, nothing could be further from the truth when it comes to America's organization. For, the annual membership fee is often less than a tank of gas. As such, the amount of fun an individual can have as a member often far outweighs the cost of membership.
