Facts About Constitutional Republic Vs Democracy

By Stella Gay

In the United States, the republican and democratic parties are the main political parties. Both parties have many and almost the same followers. There are citizens who believe that the terms of each are beneficial to the public and they decide to be neutral. They do not show interest in any of the parties. The two parties have different belief this is what makes them opposition parties. We are going to look at the constitutional republic vs democracy.

Citizens in a democratic country enjoy political education from the government. They learn how the government operates in its daily activities. This form of government safeguards the interest of the citizens in a country, as they are involved in selecting their leaders. The government is keen on the principal of equality as all citizens are equal before the law.

A country using democratic government enjoys the stability of affairs. The citizens are all satisfied by the state of the matter and they are no intentions to change the government duties. This makes it hard to incite the public, as there is no cause for revolution. The stable nature of government leads to growth of the economy.

The democratic government style of ruling has a negative side to it. This makes it less effective in offering its services. The government emphasizes on high figures as quantity as opposed to quality. The government thus uses quantitative method of ruling. The only problem is many people do not prefer this method. This method proves why there are a high number of semi-skilled leaders in a government.

Citizens in a republican enjoy fair running of government, as the citizens are the ones who empower their leaders. There is a common welfare in running of activities as the leaders and the citizens have the same goals and objectives. There is also prosperity in economy as leaders who understand what the citizens go through represent them in a government. The leaders understand the hustles these citizens go through, as they are familiar with all the activities involved.

The law states that all individuals are under the law. Everybody is accountable for his or her choices. The constitution in such a country recognizes the human rights and freedoms. All laws aim at protecting the citizens. Sound laws are made in this state, as experts scrutinize the bill before voting it to law. The powers of the government are separated and each aspect assigned to experts to run them independently.

Conversely, the republican style has a number of demerits that makes it hard to implement it. The unelected officials have a great influence in running of the government. They influence the decisions made in Supreme Court. At times, the particular government is forced to amend some laws to satisfy the opposition officials. It is hard to amend the constitution as it involves many processes hence consuming a lot of time and resources.

To conclude on the above, a nation needs to incorporate both ruling styles to attain the set goals and standards. The amending of the constitution should involve the whole nation. Charismatic leaders should be elected for effective ruling.
