Finding A Suitable Challenger Rhd Conversion

By Edward Nelson

For a lot of Dodge challenger owners it may be necessary to have their cars converted after being moved to other countries. When you are deciding on a challenger rhd conversion there are two ways you can achieve this. When exporting cars it is not illegal to drive it with standard controls but a proper conversion will make driving much easier and more comfortable.

When you have made a decision to convert there are some more changes to make than moving a few basics. As well as the foot pedals, steering wheel and switches, other bits will need to be modified or adjusted. Exhaust systems, brakes and the headlights will also need to be adjusted or tweaked to make sure that the vehicle is safe to be driven on roads.

The cheapest way of having a conversion is to buy the required parts in kit form and undertake the work yourself. This can be an inexpensive way to convert the car and it will be operational. You need to bear in mind that some of the final results when using kit conversions can be pretty crude with some of the levers and other mechanical components clearly visible to the driver and any passengers.

If you are trying to find the right kit some of the web based retailers are a good place. These firms will have stock for challengers and your items will be shipped to your home with all of the fitting diagrams. As well as the cost of the kit some other tools may be required to do the modifications and they will be able to supply these.

Another option for your conversion is to submit your car to a firm and allow them to do the conversions for you. There are a lot of well established companies with vast experience who will do these modifications to a high standard. This will be a costlier way than if you do the job yourself but all of the workmanship will be covered by their warranty.

By having a company do the modifications you will always get a better result and a much better finish. All the parts can be hidden from sight and the car will appear as if it was manufactured as a RHD model. The other advantages of using a company for the work is that they will usually offer good aftercare for the car and they will be available if any technical issues arise after you have taken the vehicle home.

When your conversions are completed the car will need to be inspected by an auto engineer to ensure it is safe. If it is converted by a professional mechanic, the car should be returned with all of the documents stating that it has passed the inspections. If the work has been carried out in a home workshop the vehicle can be booked in for these checks.

Modifying any vehicle will result in the manufacturer guaranty being invalidated. The future value of your challenger can also be affected if you happen to trade in the car after the changes have been made. It is a legal requirement that you notify the vehicles insurers after any modifications as it can affect the cover they provide for your car.
