Volunteering To Those Peolpe Who Are Poor

By Brian Wright

Volunteering might seen to others as a task that needs a lot of money and time. However, volunteering for those in need might even be very small like sharing a meal, visiting the sick in hospital and even encouraging the depressed and also helping in rehabilitation of those who are drug addicts. Others might go a step further to travel to developing countries to volunteer and even leave their paying jobs to do so.

Some of the reasons people volunteer are, Someone just feel the need to volunteer all the time and cannot explain why or how they started volunteering. Other people say that they were taught to help and so they grew up as part of their daily routines of life long routines to give back to the society. Some of these people are serial volunteers and even resign their day jobs to just do volunteer work.

Some religious people might see this as a calling. Some churches even have departments for helping the needy in the society. Most religions believe that the blessings dwell in the meek in heart and there is a lot of blessings and unfavorable and merited favor in volunteering for those in need.

It is in one of the Islamic pillar that they should help the needy in society and treat them with respect.

Christians believe that helping the poor is also a way of following Jesus teaching and also actions. Jesus was big in helping the poor, healing the sick, healing the blind and also accommodating to those that society had neglected. They also believe that Gods blessings are in the needy people and when a needy person is happy then God releases the blessings to the helperHindus also have the system where they try as mush as possible to do away with the class system. The class system in the past has been that people are grouped according to their economic status. One form a higher class can not mix with one form a lower class which they referred to as the caste system. Nowadays, the Hindus help the needy so much that they build community centers to feed the hungry, schools for the orphans etc.

Some people do this for the sake of their own ego or satisfaction. Most of these people are those who are uber rich who give a lot of money to support charities which deal with helping the needy in the society. They do this in order to reach the self actualization as described by Maslow's hierarchy of needsMost of the people who entirely volunteer their resources to help the needy have either passed through a tough situation or have seen some one going through a tough experience. They volunteer in order to change the way things are and also aim at no on else suffering the way they did.

Past experience can also lead someone to volunteer. Some people say that they had been brought up in poverty so they felt the need to help people in the same situation as they were. A lot of women have gotten into volunteer programs because they were either abused or saw someone get abused in the past. Other people also volunteer because they feel that other people should not undergo the struggles they underwent.

Volunteering and giving to the needy in society should be encouraged from a very young age. This is because it has very valuable lessons for being selfless and not thinking about oneself only.
