All There Is To Know About Leading High Performance Teams Tactics

By Christopher Burns

When people come together to pursue a common goal, there is bound to be friction. There has to be a prescribed head that will center everyone else. When one is chosen as that head, they must meticulously and effectively apply leading high performance teams tactics for absolute success. One thing that must be done right is communication. There must be open and honest communication between members and even the head. No none should feel muffled.

One of the characteristics of such groups is innovative solutions. Innovation does not just happen. It is born of sweat, blood and maybe some tears. One must encourage unusual thinking and ideas. They should not let the members feel constrained within a box. Foster a culture of out of the box thinking. A culture of crazy ideas. Some of the greatest innovations were created from perceived insanity. Like airplanes for example, how does one come up with a tin can that travels on clouds anyway?

For the above to be possible, the group must be a safe space. It must be a place where no one is chastised for suggesting something radical that no one agrees with. A place where judgment is passed. A group where every member is encouraged to be an active participant. To express their opinion on whether or not it will be popular. The head should turn the diversity and differences into strengths.

The leader should possess conflict resolution skills. They should be able to settle disagreements that boil over. They should also develop a culture of constructive arguments and discussions.

The attitude and behavior of one person can easily affect that of another. All the team members must have matching enthusiasm for the work. They must have a good attitude towards the group and the ideas of each. One rotten fruit can sully the others. Do not let this happen. The leader is tasked with the responsibility to find such a fruit and addressing the issues. This is a hypothesis posed by a behavioral model called the Betari Box. Understanding this model will be instrumental in the successful and effective heading of the team.

The team is made up of adults. Each one of them has a reason for being a member of the group. They have their own drive for working with the team every day. The head should not find themselves in a situation where they have to push people. Instead, they should focus on inspiring. They should focus on helping everyone develop the courage and bravery to push the boundaries. To stretch the goal. To do better every single time.

Be the model. Be a shining example. Be vulnerable. Be a follower of own preaching. The leader was and is a member first. The crown matters very little if this fact is forgotten. Being the head does not make one king. It does not mean that head sits back while everyone else works. In fact, as head one should work harder. They should be more driven to be great. This kind of humility will breed appreciation, respect, motivation, admiration, and success.

Be a beacon of trust. Every member should feel like he or she can approach the head of their group with anything. Even those personal matters that are bound to affect the work. Be the sounding board. Be the mediator. Be the hand holder. Be the driver.
