Contributing To A Good Sierra Leone Charity

By Rebecca Stevens

Giving is a virtue. The giving culture makes the world a better place. It is better to give than to receive. The hand that gives is the hand that receives. It is good to give to a Sierra Leone charity. This is an organization that is involved in one of the harshest places in the world. Life in Sierra Leone is not the same as life in the west. This is a country that is ravaged by disease, hunger, drought, and illiteracy among many other issues. A good percentage of people in this nation need help.

There is a lot that has been said about Sierra Leone. Those who closely follow the news might have heard about this small African country that is located in West Africa. When there was the Ebola outbreak, this nation was greatly affected because of the poor health facilities. Sierra Leone has been made unstable by unending wars and conflicts.

Contributing to charitable organizations should be the order of the day. If every person on earth who has means makes just a little contribution, the state of humanity will improve: there will be no hungry children in Africa or hopeless refugees in Asia. Humans have the capacity to improve the condition of other humans. Humans have all the solutions. It is only implementation that is needed.

One of the major Global Millennium Goals of the 21st Century is poverty elimination. This should be the century that sees the end of poverty. As a matter of fact, poverty is a major global problem. In some countries such as Sierra Leone, it is a national epidemic. Even in America, one can still see the ugly face of poverty.

It should reach a time when poverty should only be seen in the museums. That is a quote that was once said by a famous Bangladeshi social entrepreneur when receiving the Nobel Peace Prize. There are some charitable organizations that work day and night to consign poverty to the annals of history. Such are the organizations that require contributions.

A cash contribution is welcomed. Most charitable organizations in Sierra Leone and other parts of Africa have serious cash flow problems. Thus, they require urgent cash contributions. One does not need to have a million dollars so that to contribute. Even the smallest contribution is welcomed. It is all about giving from the heart and not from the abundance of possessions.

If a person is not in a position to give cash, there are other ways that he can help. There is giving in kind. This involves a number of issues. One can contribute clothes that he is not using to those who do not have clothes. That can be done through a trusted charitable organization. Giving in kind is also great.

Charitable organizations have lifted many people from poverty. There is a lot of evidence that there are some charities that are doing really good work. On the other hand, there are those that are giving the great act of charity a bad name because of their fraudulent activities. With some research work, one will find the most trustworthy charities.
