Families or groups of friends often go to NBA and other sports leagues games, as evidenced from the constant home game sellouts of many franchises. If you want to take your sports fandom to the next level, you can peruse the new All Star Weekend Schedule 2017 to see if any of those events are right for you and your family or group of friends.

The events will be held over three days at the Time Warner Cable Arena. This is the place where the Charlotte Hornets play, so it is already set up to give fans the ultimate in great basketball action. This is the first time that Charlotte has played host to the NBA All Star Game in over 25 years. In fact, 1991 was the last time that the weekend of fun was held there.

Friday, the 17th of February is the first official day of events. The big draw is the BBVA Compass Rising Stars Challenge. This is a game where the best rookie and sophomore layers from the US are pitted against the best rookies and sophomores born in foreign countries. There is always lots of fun rivalry and national pride on display.

The next day, on Saturday, February 18, 2017, the State Farm All-Star Saturday Night events are held. There are quite a few things going on this day, so fans can expect an entire day of fun, competition and team pride. One of the best is the Degree Shooting Stars game, which brings together legends of both the NBA and WNBA in a fun competition.

In addition to the Shooting Stars, fans can expect to enjoy the Taco Bell Skills Challenge, which features the best ball handlers from around the league, many of them guards or point guards. They dribble their way around an obstacle course to try and win fame and glory. There is also the Three-Point contest, which allows the best sharpshooters to face off in a timed competition. No weekend would be complete without the famous Slam Dunk Contest, where future Michael Jordans of the league face off.

Sunday is the last day of the weekend festivities, but it goes out with a bang. First up is a Sprint-sponsored concert with acts to be determined to get everyone in a party mood. Then the Western Conference All-Stars face off against the East in a battle for bragging rights and domination. It wraps up the entire event with a real bang before the regular season resumes.

In addition, there will be other events in the Charlotte area where fans can do things such as watch players practice, watch celebrities who play basketball compete in a charity game, and more. The NBA D-League also gets some attention in the form on the Dream Factory events plus their own All-Star game held at a different offsite location.

Parties are a part of the fun, but the NBA only has a few official ones, usually. That does not stop other people across the city from throwing their own unofficial ones. If you wish to watch from home, inviting friends and family over is a fun way to have your own party while enjoying the spectacle and stars that are a part of this fun annual NBA showcase.
