Dodge Dart Has Kids Aimed At Perfect Attendance

While it might be true that if you skip school, you skip out, a Chrysler-Jeep-Dodge-Ram Victorville, California, wants youthful motorists to know that they may miss even more. According to reports, Victorville Motors 90 miles northeast of LA has a plan called It's a Gasoline to Go to Class, a $75,000 annual charitable give-away that infuses $1 million into the local school system. Not only has the program boosted sales, but it rewards students with perfect work - as well as their schools - with valuable awards that include two brand new 2013 Dodge Dart automobiles that are acquired via auction. Given that work is a factor in California's state funding of schools, this car dealership plan is naturally a big deal.

Dodge Dart giveaway prompts ideal attendance explosion

Since the inception of the It's a Gas to Go to Class program, participating schools have seen a four-fold increase in ideal attendance, a higher proportion of state revenue for work and improved student academic performance. Victorville Motors has reportedly sold over five dozen vehicles in 18 months, thanks to the competition.

"I had no idea how successful it would be," said 47-year-old Victorville Motors dealer principal Tim Watts.

The dealership is very interest in raising funds for local organizations and has been involved in the community. Victorville Motors considered giving away a car when a local parent asked about it.

"It wasn't just about us. We wanted to do it as a multi-layered approach and an outreach that includes other local businesses," said Watts.

Marketing effective for sales

The Dodge Dart promotion has been successful for Victorville Motors' sales (850 brand new and 756 used vehicles sold in 2012) and for the local school district. Before the plan, approximately 15 to 20 children at the district's three high schools had ideal work. Reports indicate that a "few hundred" are now without a blemish with regards to attendance. Six area school districts and 12 high schools are presently involved in the contest.

Pupils are motivated towards perfect attendance with supplemental awards such as gift cards. Students who maintain a perfect work record will be able to participate in the Dodge Dart raffle with golden tickets they are given. The winner's parents will generally get the car if the winner is under 18 since minors are not permitted to win cars in the state of California. This is how the raffle works, and it has certainly been effective.
