Some Safety Guidelines For Passengers On The Portland Party Bus

By Della Monroe

The party bus is an exciting method of celebrating an occasion or simply throwing a party in a novel environment. It offers the advantage that it does not require cleaning up afterwards, since it is not a fixed venue and also because it is hired, so it does not belong to you. However, there are some tips that you should take note of when you use the Portland party bus. These are not to limit your enjoyment of the bus or to hamper your celebrations but they are common sense and are related to safety.

Driving a bus is a massive responsibility. The vehicle is exceptionally large, much larger than an ordinary car. It also transports far more passengers, so the driver has a bigger responsibility than you would in your private vehicle. For this reason, there are certain guidelines that should be observed in how you deal with the driver, so as to ensure that you do not distract them or impede their driving ability.

Parties, by their nature, involve alcohol, and usually copious amounts of it. The temptation then is to offer drinks to anyone who is present, including the driver. You should not do this. The driver is not legally permitted to consume alcohol while they are driving. The party bus is not an exception to this law. If you offer the driver a drink, they are in all likelihood going to politely decline. You should not then try to insist that they accept it.

Another issue is that you should not argue with the driver, about anything. The driver might sometimes tell someone to desist from something that they are doing, or give them an instruction. In such instances, you should not try to argue. Arguing is going to aggravate the driver. This can, in turn, cause their judgment on the road to become worse or affect their driving negatively.

Secondly, and once again no matter what the situation in the bus, do not offer the driver drinks or try to involve them in the party. The driver is not legally allowed to consume alcohol in the bus so do not try to offer them any. You may think that the party atmosphere is exciting and that the driver should be included, but they are not allowed to drink while driving and they are probably just going to say no politely. Do not try to insist.

Stay within the vehicle at all times. Do not extend part of or all of your body outside of the bus while it is moving. Do not stick your arms out of the windows or try to rise up too high above the bus if it has no roof. Bridges and other structures along the road can be hazardous if you are too far extended out of the bus.

An example of this would be the situation that arises where a low bridge is on the route of the bus. The bus passes under the bridge, since it is certified to be able to, but an over-extended passenger might make contact with the bridge and be injured by it.

Generally speaking, rowdy or drunken behavior is dangerous to the driving of the bus and should not be allowed to distract the driver. The bus is a party vehicle but even so you should still try to restrict yourself from impairing the driver's ability to drive the bus.
